"Wintergirls" by Laurie Halse Anderson
Writer: Laurie Halse Anderson, Founder: Viking, Pages: 278 pp (Hardback), Nation: United States, Genre: Fiction
Review: Wintergirls is about an 18 year aged anorexic girl named Lia coping with anorexia nervosa. She wishes to be thin, so thin that your lady disappears and her body is breaking down and dying because of it. The book begins while using the death of Lia's supporter (also suffering from an eating disorder) who dies within a motel room all just by herself. Lia not only refers to her anorexia, but which includes a broken family and cutting problems. This was definitely another amazingly heart-wrenching book authored by Anderson about a painful topic that many girls are going through every day. For all of those who have read Speak, please take a look at Wintergirls! this is among the best Young Adults books May possibly read.
Corresponding Books: The Hunger Matches by Suzanne Collins, Thirteen Main reasons why by Jay Asher.
"The Cravings for food Games (trilogy)" just by Suzanne Collins
Publisher: Suzanne Collins, Publisher: Scholastic 2008-2010, Terminology: English, Country: United Advises, Genre: Adventure, Science fiction, Young adult
Assessment: The Hunger Games trilogy can be a science fiction love story that comes about thousands of years when you need it, where the United States is governed by one Capitol and divided inside thirteen districts, the story is all about a 16 year old girl Katniss Evergreen within a fantasy world called Panem (Latin for "bread") and who is "chosen" to fight in a to-the-death battle with other children in other areas, the winner of this online game will return with food with regard to district. The story is beautifully crafted and for that reason unexpected. So many twists together with turns that keeps your eyes glue on the pages. The first book was amazing it sets this story and fills us in on the history of Katniss Evergreen. The second book - has a twist in it that you don't see coming. The whole momentum in the story got slowed down in the third book, the last couple of chapters in book 3 "Mockingjay" had me shedding tears certain but she finally gets her happiness. I always enjoy studying a book that forces the reader to think deeper than what is solely on paper, and Suzanne Collins has mastered that with the books. The story is advertised as YA, but that doesn't mean it's suitable only for young adults.
Similar Books: The Maze Jogger by James Dashner, A casino game of Thrones by George Third. R. Martin.
"The Giver" as a result of Lois Lowry
Writer: Lois Lowry, Publisher: Bantam Catalogs - 1993, Pages: 179 p. (paperback edition), Nation: United States Genre: Soft science fiction, Dystopian fiction
Review: The Giver is an exceptional novel about everyday activities in a community without the need of feelings, color, war, or even pain, everything is entirely organized. This book is written from the perspective of Jonas who is an 11 year-old boy and the main character of this story.
